It’s almost that time of year.

The 2017 Benzinga Global Fintech Awards is a competition to showcase the companies with the most impressive technology that are paving the future in financial services and capital markets.

To get you prepared for this year’s awards, Benzinga will profile each fintech company that has applied. Want to get involved? Submit your company here. For this installment, we spoke Seth Farbman, Founder of eSignatureGuarantee (answers have been edited for length and clarity).

eSignatureGuarantee

What does your company do? What unique problem does it solve?

eSignatureGuarantee is providing a much needed upgrade to the securities industry. eSignatureGuarantee is a unique, patent pending online platform, which allows stockholders to obtain a Signature Guarantee for the transfer of securities.

In order to transfer securities – whether it’s stock, a 401K, an estate trust, whatever it may be – the transfer agent industry requires what is called a medallion signature guarantee, which essentially proves your identity and helps protect shareholders from fraud. To obtain a signature medallion, one must physically go into their financial institution or bank of choice to get one. Not only is this time consuming and outdated, but many financial institutions have stopped offering this service, literally leaving shareholders with nowhere to turn.

In today’s digital world, almost every service is offered through a technology solution, so it’s quite surprising there wasn’t a web solution available to simplify this process for shareholders.

The eSignatureGuarantee portal utilizes unique, intelligent, multiple choice knowledge-based authentication data questions to validate that someone is who they claim to be. It then utilizes dual authentication technology and accesses thousands of data sources containing public records to validate a customer’s identification while allowing customers to transact with fraud detection tools in a fast and uninterrupted process.

Who is your company’s leadership? What kind of experience do they have?

Seth Farbman has built a career in servicing private and public companies.

Farbman was the Co-Founder and President of Vintage Filings which he sold to PR Newswire in 2007. In this role, he serviced over 3,000 publicly traded companies to provide SEC EDGAR and financial print services related to IPOs, Proxy Statements, Annual Reports, Shareholder Meetings and all aspects of compliance filings. He was a founding partner and a Co-Chairman of Vcorp Services which he sold in October 2016 to Wolters Kluwer.

Farbman currently serves as the Chairman and President of Vstock Transfer, with a focus on pre IPO, Nasdaq and NYSE MKT listed issuers. He’s also the Chairman of www.VcheckGlobal.com, a background and corporate due diligence services company. Prior to starting Vintage Filings, he as a securities attorney at a New York Law Firm with a concentration on securities regulation.

Is there anything else Benzinga should know about your company?

eSignatureGuarantee has partnered with many leading stock transfer agents over the past few months indicating the huge need for this technology in the market. The company also recently announced the integration of HelloSign’s API. Through this partnership, shareholders now have the ability to electronically sign and upload transfer agent forms and stock powers via the HelloSing API.

If you’re looking for cool fintech startups and access to top financial institutions, and are sick of attending stuffy corporate conferences, the Benzinga Global Fintech Awards is the event for you. From its first year in 2015, the competition grew to over 250 applicants and over 500 attendees in 2016.
